Who we are

INWUN is an organization that consist of Unions that represent Nuclear Workers across the world.

How we were formed

Union representatives from Unions that represent Nuclear Workers in the USA, Canada, UK, Belgium, and Romania met on April 14 and 15, 2004 at the International Energy, Mines and General Workers Union (ICEM) headquarters in Brussels, Belgium. These representatives agreed in principle to form INWUN. The parties further agreed to report back to their principles and decided to schedule a meeting a further meeting in August 2004 where the organization was launched.

• To organize events such as, conferences, seminars, workshops etc that will help to improve the social understanding of Nuclear Energy within Trade Unions and the general public.

The Nuclear Worker's View

As people whose daily working life is spent on the front lines of the nuclear industry, the firm belief of Unionized Nuclear Workers is that nuclear energy is a safe, economical and environmentally clean method of electricity production.

With almost 50 years of experience operating nuclear energy plants, the International nuclear energy industry has established a broad and sophisticated body of knowledge of nuclear technology under the auspices of highly respected international scientific organizations. These international scientific authorities oversee not only the safety of nuclear power operations throughout the world, but also the spread of knowledge and understanding of nuclear technology.

The next generation of power reactors, now under research in many countries around the world will produce electricity even more safely, more efficiently than the present generation, which continues to serve the world after thirty years of operations. In a world where our greatest environmental challenges still lie ahead, nuclear energy will continue to offer a safe, clean, efficient and sustainable technology for bulk electricity production.

The International Nuclear Workers’ Unions Network (INWU) was founded in 2004 as an umbrella organization of workers who are represented by Unions in several areas of the worldwide nuclear industry.
